About Dr. Paul McCarthy
Dentistry should feel calm, clear, and respectful. My goal is to help you understand what’s happening, make confident decisions, and leave the office feeling taken care of.
A comfort-first, detail-oriented approach
I’m a general dentist with experience practicing in New York and New England. I focus on comprehensive care with a strong emphasis on comfort, communication, and long-term stability.
- Comfort-firstA gentle pace, clear explanations, and no pressure.
- Thorough planningWe prioritize what matters most and build a step-by-step plan.
- High standardsModern techniques and careful attention to detail.
Training & experience
I grew up on Rhode Island’s south shore and graduated from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2016. After dental school, I completed a residency at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, where I gained broad experience in comprehensive care. I then practiced in both downstate and upstate New York before returning to New England.
I’m currently pursuing my FAGD (Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry), a distinction held by fewer than 6% of dentists in the U.S. and Canada.
Outside the office
Outside dentistry, I stay active through workouts, running, and golf. I also enjoy following the Patriots and F1, reading classical history, science fiction, and philosophy, and I’m always up for a good movie recommendation. (Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan are favorites.)
Community matters
I love being part of a community and building long-term relationships with patients. Whether it’s a routine checkup or a bigger restorative plan, my aim is to earn your trust through consistency and clear communication.
A note on mindset
I believe the best outcomes come from good habits and a steady, thoughtful plan—whether it’s health, training, or dentistry. Currently I’m reading Mindset by Carol Dweck.
I recently got engaged at Volante Farm with my fiancée, Lane.
